Umu Imo, udo diri unu!
I want to welcome you to the official website of the Imo State Congress of America/Diaspora. Imo State Congress (ISCA) is an umbrella organization that represents “Ndi Imo” in the Americas and across the globe. Our organization is built on a solid structure that recognizes our Local Government and senatorial diversities. ISCA is made up of a National Executive Council (NEC). There is also an appointed Board of Directors consisting of twenty-seven (27) representatives of the twenty-seven (27) local Government areas of Imo State.
As a non-Governmental organization, our main objective is to be a partner in progress with the Government of our beloved state in the areas of Economic development, Health care, Education, Environment, Political stability, Security, Power generation/electrification, Water resources, human rights, civil rights, promotion of the Igbo language, among others.
Our constitution also provides that this organization must have an oversight responsibility in ensuring that the Government is accountable to the citizens that it serves. It must have a whistleblower to checkmate the excesses of the Government and ensure that the Government is accountable to the governed in terms of fiscal responsibility, prudent management, and discipline.
ISCA also has a unique responsibility to play an advocacy role in defense of the citizens of Imo State both outside and inside the territory of Nigeria whenever the human or civil rights of her citizens are threatened. Indeed, it is a part of our responsibilities to respond, without equivocation, when people’s trusts are violated or compromised.
The stability, strength, progress or success of any entity, e.g., business, organization, and government is dependent upon the patriotism and commitment of her membership or citizens. ISCA is endowed with necessary human resources and the know-how to achieve the goals of the founding members. With collective commitment/involvement of everyone, the dividends of democracy will no longer elude our people.
We have no other state to call our home state; Imo state is all we have and we must be unified by common destiny. That destiny embodies love for one another, forgiveness, trust, open-mindedness, meaningful contributions and collective mission and vision. When we harness the goodness in one another, when we embrace each other with kindness, when we pull each other up instead of tearing each other down, there will be no room for hatred, divisions, sectionalism, destructive and poisonous tendencies in our souls. When these happen, our organization will be stronger, our collective vision will be clearer, our commitment will be undivided, and ISCA will become a formidable force. Once formidable, the helpless, the hopeless, the optimists, the pessimists, the rich, the poor, the educated, and uneducated among our people will become the ultimate beneficiaries.
I ask that we join hands together as one people, devoid of boundaries and sectionalism, to give God the glory for blessing us as a people with a common heritage, tradition and ancestry. Together, we will record meaningful growth and development.
May God be the glory
